Little Hud - Circumcision

Hudson had his circumcision today at 4:30. I had a lot of anxiety going into this appointment, I certainly do not want my child to be in any sort of pain, of course there is always the risks that can occur that we had to take into consideration, and the out of pocket financial cost of $225, but we decided that it was the best decision for Hudson in the long run.

The urologist said that he did great during the procedure, but he started crying hysterically while getting dressed after and continued to do so for about 30 minutes. This was definitely the hardest part to live through for me, Hudson is overall a calm baby who really only cries if he is hungry (and then watch out!), so having him inconsolably crying was very difficult, the nurse said that it was not from the pain since they do provide a local freezing, but I think that it was from the trauma of the entire situation as a whole. When Daddy finally was able to get him settled, he slept for several hours (sleeping is a defense mechanism for babies), only waking briefly to eat and for me to change his diaper. I have been giving him Tylenol every 4 hours just to keep him comfortable while he is healing.

There was a little bit of blood on his diaper after I first changed his diaper, but that was the only time I have seen blood, and he has been wetting (and pooping) very normally. Vaseline has been our best friend, and will continue to be our best friend for roughly the next 10 days or until he heals.
