Learn to run

Now it may seems silly, since we all technically know how to run, even Hudson was running just as soon as he started walking...but there is so much to learn about running safely and properly. The Health Promotions Team on base offered a Learn to Run course for the month of May through a health challenge program they have. So my manager and I signed up, and each week on Tuesday we have an in class session, and then on Thursday's we get outside and run.

We are suppose to run 3 days a week, so once as a team, and then twice solo. So after I dropped off Loralai at Sparks, I got my running shoes on and ran around the neighbourhood.

My program looks like this:

Week 1 - Run 30 seconds, walk 90 seconds
Week 2 - Run 60 seconds, walk 90 seconds
Week 3 - Run 90 seconds, walk 60 seconds
Week 4 - Run 2 minutes, walk 60 seconds

The in class portion discusses these topics:

Proper footwear
Common mistakes
Cadence
Common injuries
Nutrition for success

I am not a strong runner, but I look forward to getting outside, learning some new things/techniques, and having some fun!
