Today we gained an Angel

It is with a very heavy heart that I share this news with you, after 100 years in this world we lost my grandmother Eva today. She was surrounded with love of family as she decided to make her final resting place in heaven, I am very sure that she was greeted by her two children, and husband.

People always say "oh but she is 100", and I always nod and smile as I understood what they were saying, I understand that she lived a very full and long life more than most people get to have, BUT you cannot quantify grief and loss by a number. I miss her each and everyday, I am truly beyond grateful that she was able to meet my children, that she taught me about what it is to be an independent woman, about never giving up, and about how you are only as old as you feel.

This is a woman who:
  • At 65 years old decided that she would take up painting, and then went onto have her art featured at a local gallery
  • Who went to Vegas into her 80's
  • Lived on her own until she was 96 years old
  • Who would not miss a single Blue Jay's baseball game, and could tell you all about the players, their batting average, etc.
  • Who loved to read
  • Who lived life in moderation, and kept herself healthy
  • etc etc etc
Over her 100 years she experienced and saw so many things:
  • World War 1 & 2
  • Epidemics
  • Creation of antibiotics and vaccines
  • Woman's rights
  • Creation of airplanes
  • Man on the moon
  • Television
  • Advancing technology (computers, cell phones, internet etc.)
  • etc etc etc
My grandmother was a remarkable person, and watching her leave this earth today was extremely difficult. Thank you grandma for being apart of my life, and this is not a goodbye but an until we meet again.
